About 20,000 people staged a march throughMexico’s capital on Sunday demanding respect for their country and its migrants in the face ofperceived hostility from the administration of US President Donald Trump.Many marchers carried Mexican flags and dressed in white as a sign of unity and to signal the non-political nature of the march.
One of the banners read: “Gracias, Trump, for unifying Mexico!”
According to the German news agency DPAaround 50 people, complained about breathing
problems and burning eyes.
Some people were taken to hospital, while those
who were evacuated had to wait outside in
freezing conditions before being let back inside
a short time later.
Authorities have been trying to work out what
the hazardous substance is after the alert was
raised in a security check area.
