A police officer who stopped to help a woman who had crashed her truck, was sent flying through the air when another driver slammed into them.

The shocking footage captured on the dash cam of officer Ryan Silvis’s police shows him jumping out to help a 23-year-old woman.
She had crashed her truck and was blocking two lanes of the road, when the cop arrived to help.

But moments later a man in a white car smashed into the truck, pinning the driver between her car and the crash barrier and throwing the officer 30ft.

Officer Silvis managed to struggle back to his feet, and having lost his radio in the crash, ran back to his car to call for back-up.
He then runs back to help the injured woman.

Both the officer and the woman were taken to hospital and are still recovering from their injuries.

The driver, 36-year-old Jeffrey Lee Huizenga from Dorr, in Michigan, USA, was charged with two offences: causing a serious injury crash and and not moving over for emergency vehicles.

He was remanded in custody after the crash on February 1 in Wyoming.
