received after hashtagging “All Lives Matter” on
Twitter, which she used while promoting her new

When asked if she was surprised about the
backlash, J-Lo told the Press Association: “We
originally did a song for Orlando. I was only trying
to be inclusive. It was about this, and I didn’t want
to not say it was about this, but I also wanted to
include everything that was going on.
“I didn’t realise there was such sensitivity to it in
that moment which is why I decided to take it
“But my message has always been about love and
my message is about including all the senseless
acts of violence and that love is the answer for all
of it.

“I think people understand that at the end of the
day that those were my intentions.”
Protests have been taking place in the name of
Black Lives Matter following the fatal police
shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
Some of the comments from fans included: “I just
lost respect for @JLo after her tweeting/deleting all
lives matter.

“How complicated is it to understand #blm doesn’t
mean others don’t?”
Another added: “Still can’t believe J Lo said All
lives matter.”
While an irate follower wrote: “So if there are two
houses and one is on fire do you put water in the
house that’s not on fire since all houses matter?
They not killing everyone they’re killing blacks.”
